Privacy Policy

Ahmed Business Machines respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you contact us or buy from us, why we hold it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it under the Data Protection Act, 2019 of Kenya.

01Who we are

Ahmed Business Machines, of 35 Busia Road, Nairobi, Kenya, is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at info@abmltd.co.ke or +254 743 233925.

02What we collect

We only collect what we need to sell, deliver and support the equipment you order:

• Identity and contact details — your name, company, phone number, WhatsApp number and email address.
• Order details — the products you enquire about or buy, delivery address, and any purchase order or proforma invoice reference.
• Support records — the machines you own or lease, service history and correspondence with our technicians.
• Website usage data — pages visited and basic device information, collected in aggregate so we can improve the site.

03How we collect it

We collect data directly from you: when you send a WhatsApp enquiry, call us, email us, fill in a form on this site, place an order, or request a quotation or lease. We also receive limited technical data automatically when you browse the site.

04Why we use it and our lawful basis

We process personal data for the purposes below, on the lawful bases set out in section 30 of the Data Protection Act, 2019:

• To respond to your enquiry and prepare quotations — necessary to take steps at your request before entering a contract.
• To process, deliver and invoice your order, and to activate and administer leases — performance of a contract.
• To provide warranty service, repairs and technical support — performance of a contract and our legitimate interest in supporting the equipment we supply.
• To keep accounting and tax records — compliance with a legal obligation.
• To send occasional product or price-list updates — only where you have consented, and you may withdraw that consent at any time.

05WhatsApp and phone enquiries

Our order buttons open a message in WhatsApp. When you send it, your message and phone number reach us through WhatsApp's service and are also handled under WhatsApp's own privacy terms. We use that number to answer your enquiry and to arrange delivery or service. We do not add you to marketing broadcasts without your consent.

06Who we share it with

We do not sell personal data. We share it only where it is necessary to do what you asked of us:

• Courier and delivery partners, to get your order to you.
• Payment providers and banks, to receive and reconcile payment.
• Our accountants and auditors, and government authorities where the law requires it.

Where a service provider we use is located outside Kenya, we transfer data only where the transfer meets the conditions in Part VI of the Data Protection Act, 2019.

07How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to a purchase are kept for up to 24 months. Order, warranty, lease and service records are kept for seven years, which is the retention period Kenyan tax and accounting rules require. After that, records are deleted or anonymised.

08How we protect it

Access to customer records is restricted to staff who need it to do their job. Data in transit through this website is encrypted, and our business systems are password protected. No system is perfect, but we take the security of your information seriously and will notify you and the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner of any breach that is likely to affect your rights.

09Cookies

This site uses only the cookies and local storage needed to make pages work and to measure aggregate traffic. We do not use advertising trackers. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings without losing access to the site.

10Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act, 2019 you have the right to:

• Be informed of how your personal data is being used.
• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.
• Object to the processing of your data, in whole or in part.
• Request deletion of false or misleading data, or of data we no longer have a lawful reason to keep.
• Withdraw consent at any time where our processing relies on consent.

11Children

Our products and services are sold to businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of the page shows when it last changed.
